Whosever room this is should be ashamed!
His underwear is hanging on the lamp.
His raincoat is there in the overstuffed chair,
And the chair is becoming quite mucky and damp.
His workbook is wedged in the window,
His sweater’s been thrown on the floor.
His scarf and one ski are beneath the TV,
And his pants have been carelessly hung on the door.
His books are all jammed in the closet,
His vest has been left in the hall.
A lizard named Ed is asleep in his bed,
And his smelly old sock has been stuck to the wall.
Whosever room this is should be ashamed!
Donald or Robert or Willie or–
Huh? You say it’s mine? Oh, dear,
I knew it looked familiar!

it’s a great poem. it is simple and describes most teen aged boy’s room.

  16. Kimberly says:

I feel like this poem is being taken at face value when it actually sjould not be. This poem is a mtaphor for times when people, economic entities and even governments create problems in society, i.e. they create a mess, and then they point fingers and blame everyone but themselves.

Also, I think the poem speaks to the concept of judging yourself before you judge others. Often times we are quick to point out the short comings of others while failing to recognize the same faults/ shortcomings in our own lives.

  19. rozzylou says:

Autumn leaves are falling and they don’t make a sound,
gently swirling softly until they reach the ground.
Colours will amaze you, Oranges, Yellows and Reds,
making homes for creatures among the flower beds.
Winter breezes blowing will leave the trees quite bare,
but the colours of the Autumn will stay and linger there. To remind us of the Summer when all was warm and green and all of natures splendours again in Springtime can be seen. I LIKED THE IDEA OF A POEM CALLED MESSY ROOM ITS AN IMAGINATIVE TITLE AN ORIGINAL.
