I THOUGHT I was not alone, walking here by the shore,
But the one I thought was with me, as now I walk by the shore,

I find this poem to be about a sadness he has.When you’re with someone you care about you want to take time together and go walking or something. Because when you do that that person makes you feel you’re not alone and protected.But as he’s walking he looks to his side, and the light he sees is like symbolizing a hope or a gateway to his happiness in life and he realizes that, the person isn’t there anymore.So then he continues his life hopeless and lost and watching other people with a confusion in his heart.
