Whales have calves,
Cats have kittens,
Bears have cubs,
Bats have bittens,
Swans have cygnets,
Seals have puppies,
But guppies just have little guppies.

I always include this in a poetry reading. The light-heartedness and irony help “seal the deal”, especially after some more serious pieces. I usually close with this poem–always leave ’em laughing. Thanks Ogden Nash! (I memorized this the first time I read it in 7th grade.)
