I am alone, in spite of love,
In spite of all I take and give—
In spite of all your tenderness,
Sometimes I am not glad to live.
I am alone, as though I stood
On the highest peak of the tired gray world,
About me only swirling snow,
Above me, endless space unfurled;
With earth hidden and heaven hidden,
And only my own spirit’s pride
To keep me from the peace of those
Who are not lonely, having died.
., i think sara teasdale was realy sad on what happened to her life ..
this poem describe me .. i can relate my life on this poem ..
This poem is deep and beautiful
This poem is beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!!
this poem is so good that it made me cry my eyes until there were no more tears to cry
I think that this poem, speaks of how she longs to be loved, however, with the way her life is, she feels unworthy of said love and cannot accept it. Also, Sara Teasdale did not live a happy life. She was chronically ill, and committed suicide with barbituates in 1933. I believe that poetry was this woman’s release, and without it she would’ve rather died much earlier.
I agree that it’s about solitude. Especially since sh’e written other poems about solitude.
you guys are all bumbling idiots.Rao’s comment was the only intelligent one. it’s a great poem. teasdale acknowledges human solitude, even in the face of perfect, unconditional love.
This is a very sad poem with a very sad ending. She feels that there is something missing in her life and that she thinks she can only find peace in death. Very sad.
UM UM This poem is so sad and I loved it. UM UM I can’t stop reading it. UM UM i dont no wat else to say. sara is dead right? um yea um hope she had a happy life.

This poem is sad okay?
I love it so…It describes me so well. Just so beautiful and detailed.
This poem is about a lady who is and feels like she lost someone whom she loved! As if there is no one who understands how she feels! Like her life is just all sad! As if she is missing a part of life! Thats what i think about this poem!
it’s a very sad peom. i hope she feels better when i wish her good luck in life. OOOOOOOOOOPS! She’s not alive, OH WELL!
Sara was crying for help. Despite love and tenderness bestowed upon her, still she felt something missing in her life. She believed she can find peace in death. A sad ending.
Loneliness is the food of thought…..!!

We cannot escape from the essential loneliness of our individual nature…………..In reality we are isolated bdings. We sufer because we refuse to recognise that fact and because we try to outwit that condition which Nature has bestowed upon us. –(Dr.Paul Bronton)
it isnt suppose to be funny. its all about her being “alone” and depresed. but i think its a great and depressing poem for anyone to read.
this poem ain’t funny
