Once, when I was young and true,
Someone left me sad-
Broke my brittle heart in two;
And that is very bad.

Love is for unlucky folk,
Love is but a curse.
Once there was a heart I broke;
And that, I think, is worse.

    This poem rings true and, to me at least, seems to be dripping with remorse. Maybe I’m just a little overemotional, but this seems soooo sweet to me.

    What I love about D.P. is that she takes the persective less realized. Wow, to be so unselfish as to think it’s worse to break a heart than to have your own heart broken. It’s true. Hurting someone hurts. But I’m not sure I agree that it’s worse than being hurt.
