When I remember bygone days
I think how evening follows morn;
So many I loved were not yet dead,
So many I love were not yet born.
When I remember bygone days
I think how evening follows morn;
So many I loved were not yet dead,
So many I love were not yet born.

I have always loved this poem. As I grow older, having lost my parents, but coming to know beloved grandchildren and being unable to imagine my world without them, this sentiment is comforting – and so true. Who would turn back the hands of time if they could? Although I do want them to move as slowly as possible forward.
