Analysis, meaning and summary of e.e. cummings's poem Snow

  1. Penelope says:

From my heart, I must admit I find this poem so beautifully expressive of the nature of keylime pie – snow is an extended metaphor for the cream that melts so gently when consumed – those pauses only represent more clearly the sharpness of the lime cutting through your emotions as it does through the cream.
I must applaud E E Cummings for encapsulating such a fantastic and tantalising desert within the metaphor of the substance that is frozen delicate drops of hydrogen, hydrogen and oxygen.

This is even harder to read than “L(a”! I love it anyway. Poems like Cummings’ show that you don’t have to have rhyme or reason to be poetry. His poems caputure the true essence of what he’s describing, without perfect structure, or rhyming words, or verbose analysis. “Snow” is wayward, tumbling, jumbled, flurried. I haven’t yet seen a snowfall that’s perfectly in line. But a snowfall doesn’t have to be structured to be beautiful.

  7. Pearona says:

This poem is difficult to comprehend at first. I am still having some difficulty trying to understand the meaning of it. I have chosen this poem to share for my thesis paper. His poetry is so unique, however sometimes the meaning is just to hard to find. He made it difficult to desipher his poetry.

  8. Po Emrea Der says:

if you don’t get the poem, look at the name i put in. It says poem reader. that is the kind of format in which this poem is written
