THE shadows of the ships
Rock on the crest
In the low blue lustre
Of the tardy and the soft inrolling tide.

A long brown bar at the dip of the sky
Puts an arm of sand in the span of salt.

The lucid and endless wrinkles
Draw in, lapse and withdraw.
Wavelets crumble and white spent bubbles
Wash on the floor of the beach.

Rocking on the crest
In the low blue lustre
Are the shadows of the ships.

    Answer:
It is talking about a ship graveyard.
    Explanation:
When it says the shadows of the ships, the poem is talking about ships that have sunken to the bottom of the ocean. The author continues to visualize what the bottom of the ocean also pointing out how a ships mast can be seen above the water.

It doesn’t have a concept. It’s just supposed to be beautiful! That’s the whole entire point.

  3. brandon says:

i think that the meaning is about ships that have bottomed out because they got to close to the rocks and it has become a ship graveyard. it took me awhile to figure that out.
