Because you love me I have much achieved,
Had you despised me then I must have failed,
But since I knew you trusted and believed,
I could not disappoint you and so prevailed.

I did not like this poem I dont think Paul Laurence Dunbar makes any sense when he writes his poems he is not on his own level when he is writing his poems i think he writes kiddy poem even little kids will fall asleep when they read his poems I just don’t think he is a good poet he really needs to give up poetry and try to focus his talent on something else because i don’t think poetry is his thing. To me if it didn’t catch my eye that means i didn’t like it and i thought that they should have never been published i think that back than that may have been a good poem but now its just nothing good about it and sorry to say when you write a poem I think first you should ask yourself will this catch the readers eyes but i also think that i can write a better poem than you that is just how i feel deep down inside and that is what your suppose to do you are suppose to reach deep down on the inside and find your true feelings and make a poem out of that than see how far it will take you.
