because i love you)last night

clothed in sealace
appeared to me
your mind drifting
with chuckling rubbish
of pearl weed coral and stones;

lifted,and(before my
eyes sinking)inward,fled;softly
your face smile breasts gargled
by death:drowned only

again carefully through deepness to rise
these your wrists
thighs feet hands

poising
to again utterly disappear;
rushing gently swiftly creeping
through my dreams last
night,all of your
body with its spirit floated
(clothed only in

the tide’s acute weaving murmur

    Shows sexual imaginary and approach to a dreams and fantasies.It shape the conceptions of characters through the use of symbolism.

  2. Amanda says:

    it is a very sexy poem. i love cummings reckless but sensual style.

  3. Abs says:

    Really sexy. The Great EE Cummings never failed to give new ways of expressing common emotion but in a more creative and intellectual level. The poem is great and very poetic.

  4. wendy says:

    sexy,sensual,herd and soft….the flow of real lovemaking.

  5. May says:

    This is an experience that is sexual, sensual, while the sea imagery moves the poem and objectifies his lover. He is the current, and she is the sea. When understood this way the reader experinces the union of the two– and it is amazing!

  6. Kellyanne Junkins says:

    Being familiar with the ocean and her mischevious ways, I tend to gather that this poem reflects the author’s view of the waves. He speaks of the rising crest, only to disappear again, which reminds me of the regal rise of her breast (crest), whitecapping, and then ceasing, returning back to the unity of her body. I enjoyed this poem, and it is a little easier to understand than some of his other work. A very creative writer, indeed, but does make one put on the thinking cap, beyond the ordinary imagination, only to bring us back to recognize what we take for granted in the first place.
