Downton Abbey: Money, love and legacy - all under one roof!
Set in an Edwardian country house in 1912, Downton Abbey portrays the lives of the Crawley family and the servants who work for them. Downton is the home of the Crawleys, who have been the earls of Grantham since 1772. In the drawing rooms, library and beautiful bedrooms, with their tall windows looking across the park, lives the family, but below the stairs are other residents - the servants, as fiercely possessive of their ranks as anyone above. Some of them are loyal to the family and are committed to Downton as a way of life, others are moving through, on the lookout for new opportunities, love or just adventure.
In Season 2 the war is on, and everything and everyone is changing.
The Great War rages across Europe, and not even the serene Yorkshire countryside is free from its effects. The men and women of Downton are doing their part both on the front lines and the home front, but the intensity of war only serves to inflame the more familiar passions - love, loss, blackmail, and betrayal.
Dame Maggie Smith, Hugh Bonneville, and Elizabeth McGovern lead the stellar cast of familiar faces, and Maria Doyle Kennedy, Iain Glen, and Zoe Boyle are just a few of the new arrivals adding to the delicious drama.
Downton Abbey premièred on PBS in January 2011 and promptly won six Primetime Emmy Awards, one of which was for Outstanding Miniseries or Movie.
Over 15 hours of entertainment on 6 DVDs in total. Extras include "Making of Downton Abbey" and "A House in History."
