Plugable 4-Port SuperSpeed USB 3.0/2.0 Hub with 4A Power Adapter (VIA Chipset)

Enables connecting up to 4 devices to one USB port. Features the VIA VL811 USB 3.0 Hub Controller Chipset for maximum compatibility and performance. Unit is small, lightweight, with main power and per-port LEDs.

Compatibility

Full forward and backward compatibility between USB 3.0 and 2.0/1.1 hosts and devices. The hub requires no driver install (although individual devices will, as usual).

*NOTE* 2012 Mac Mini, MacBook Pro with Retina Display, and iMac are currently not recommended for use with this product pending Apple and hub firmware updates. Search for the Plugable USB3-HUB7-81X model instead and apply latest Apple updates.

Performance

The hub's one upstream port and four downstream ports support not just SuperSpeed transfer (5Gbps), but are also backwards compatible with previous USB specifications and offer support for Hi-Speed (480Mbps), Full-Speed (12Mbps), and Low-Speed (1.5Mbps) traffic. USB 3.0 lifts the lid on performance of data transfers and USB 3.0 graphics and network devices. USB's practical speeds vary by device and other traffic on the bus, but are usually 1/2 or 1/3 theoretical speeds.

Power

Comes with premium 5V 4A power supply for supporting not just USB 2.0 500mA power, but also USB 3.0's more demanding 900mA per port. Power management features include the ability for devices to communicate latency tolerance to the host and for links to enter progressively lower power states when link partners are idle.

Charging

Not a standalone device charger: No functionality for charging iPad, iPhone, or other tablet and smartphone devices.
