The flashlights' main light projects a long-range beam and has three modes: high, low, and strobe. A red emergency light on the other end of the flashlights is powered by separate button cell batteries (included) and can be set to glow mode and used like a flare or set to flasher mode and used like a beacon. The button cell batteries are made to last up to 200 hours in flasher mode.
