During a season of transition in my life, I found myself overwhelmed with negative emotions like self-pity and a complaining spirit. It was as if a dark cloud had descended over me. I prayed and asked God for wisdom on how to overcome these negative emotions. And I sensed Him leading me to do this 21 days of gratitude challenge. Over the course of the 21 days, God began to change me as I spend intentional time being grateful for all I have been given. I did this through writing in my journal each day and also sending a hand-written thank you note to someone different each day.
And now I want to share what I learned with you.
Each day I share a scripture and quote about gratitude as well as an application step for you to take. I also share my personal stories and reflections. Along with the 21 day challenge, I also started a private Facebook group to provide accountability and encouragement for myself but also for others who decided to join me in the challenge. It has been amazing to see God at work in each of our lives.
Here are just a few comments from those who have embarked on this journey:
"This challenge has brought me back to Him in such a way I cannot explain with words!" Rob Stephens
"This challenge has been quite an inspiration. Keep up the great work. It's contagious! Wow!" Laurie MacPherson
"The Gratitude Challenge has helped me find a happiness in life I haven't had in a while. I think everyone should do this challenge if they haven't yet. You will be blessed." David Rickey
"The gratitude challenge has been life changing for me. Doing this daily has drawn me closer to the Lord because I am communicating with him more about real heart and thought issues in 'real time.' I am so thankful that the Lord prompted Shelley to share this challenge with all of us! Above all, I praise Jesus for his grace in providing us all a way to be mindful of the thoughts and attitudes of our hearts, and to experience the difference that gratitude makes in our lives." Renee Snyder
"This challenge has really changes my focus from the negative things in life and to focus on the good. I believe a thankful heart is a happy heart. Proverbs 17:22 says, 'A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.'" Antonia Faisant
