Uncle Tom's Cabin : Or Life Among the Lowly

(Hardback Deluxe Bound Edition has gold leaf design on front cover and on spine.) Early bound edition printed in KINGSPORT, TN. (This is a local piece for us as we are in Maryville, TN and not that far from Kingsport...all East Tennessee). J. H. Sears & Co. Publishers New York is noted as the publisher on the front of the cover page. It seems Sears was really the distributor, as it clearly states on the back of cover page that it was set up, printed, and bound at Kingsport Press. I guess in other words Sears Sub-contracted out the printing job to Kingsport Press, then took credit as publisher. One neat thing about this book is that it came with a CELLULOID BOOKMARK. The book mark has a Christian Theme. It is in a shape of a cross and says "God Answers Prayer". It has a yellow "tassled" rope attached to the top of the bookmark. Since this book and bookmark seems to have been friends for a long time, we have kept them together. Seemed a shame to seperate them now. You get the bookmark with the book. As before mentioned....Published by the "Kingsport Press" but there is no date on the back of the title page. It is not that the page with the date is missing, it is just that they didn't date the book. I would guess 1880's to maybe 1930's according to the style of the binding.
