Editorial Reviews:
Synopsis
from the forward... Crane is still best known as a poet through the few poems which have appeared most often in anthologies. But there are many others which challenge our attention. He was a true poet, whether he wrote in verse or in prose, and probably the best American poet of his time. He did not like to be called a poet and preferred to speak of his verses as "lines." But he used a better word when he once referred to them as "pills." They are, indeed, small, their taste is bitter, and, like truth itself, they must be accepted and taken. They are strong medicine, but they may be good for us.
