The Institutional Repository (Chandos Information)

This book discusses the concept of the Institutional Repository (IR) and examines how one is set up, maintained and embedded into general institutional working practice. Specific reference is made to capturing certain types of research materials, such as E-Theses and E-Prints, the challenges in obtaining materials, following proper legal protocol, and storing the material in perpetuity. There is discussion of the many different models that have been adopted worldwide for IR management, and a case study from the Edinburgh Research Archive that documents the path from conception to completion of an IR. The book also introduces extensive, less common concepts such as mediated deposit.
