Synopsis
Here is a beautiful story told by a plain-faced intelligent passionate orphan. Charlotte Bronte was an 18th century English novelist. She and her sisters were well known authors. Bronte is best known for her novel Jane Eyre. The novel is divided into five stages. Jane begins the story of her childhood in Gateshead where she is abused by her aunt and cousin. The story then moves to Longwood Academy where Jane finds friends and mentors. She then finds work as a governess where she falls in love with her employer. Then her clergyman cousin proposes to her. She finally is reunited with the man she loves. This partly autobiographical novel is full of Gothic elements and social criticism.
