Synopsis
Robinson Crusoe is Daniel Defoe's classic about a castaway who spends 28 years on a remote tropical island near Trinidad, encountering cannibals, captives, and mutineers before being rescued. Although inspired by a real life event, it was the first notable work of literature where the story didn't come from mythology, history, legends, or previous literature. This was the first novel of its kind, and remains a great classic read to this day.
