Synopsis
A stranger comes to live in the area, hoping to learn more about the history of his family. He comes into contact with Nelly Deans, a servant who once lived in the house known as Wuthering Heights. It is Nelly who introduces us to the Earnshaw family. We learn that it was once a cheerful place to live until Old Earnshaw adopted Heathcliff who was a "Gipsy" child. Catherine, the daughter of the house, finds Heathcliff the perfect companion, since he posses many of the wild, rude and proud characteristics as she does. Catherine loves Heathcliff, but she cannot marry a man of such lower status than she. Catherine marries another man and so starts an obsession that will be the ruin of them all.
