Now let ui inquire whet u the ectuel Balance Remaining.._---..--$115 57 Thus we see that he had in the bank, on the 13th of August, when the check was drawi'--and on the 16th of August, when the check was presented and payment refused--the sum of $1105 with which to pay his check of $1049 43! What then does the Bank Account tell us was the state of his funds on the 16th of September, when the check Was Paid? 1833. July 22, Mr. McDowall's deposit wai-...--August 5, do do do __.._.-September 13, do do do Cash in the Bank, (Sept. 16.) September 16, Mr. McDowall makes his (first) Draft on the Bank for September 16, Balance Remaining In Bane...... $69035 It is evident, therefore, as Mr. McDowall paid a check for $1049 43 on the 16th of September, and only drew from the bank the sum of $500, that he must have had the balance of the check out of bank; i. e. he had funds out of bank amounting to the sum of $549 43--so that on the day the check was actually paid, Mr. McDowall had on interest, After The Check Was Paid, in the Greenwich Savings' Bank, the sum of almost Seven Hundred Dollars!!! But another fact is disclosed by this " Bank Account." It is this: it will be perceived that the final balance of the account was not drawn uiit.il January 5, 1835. On this day Mr. McDowall draws from the bank the sum of $325 40; and if any one will make the calculation, it will be found that about $160 65 of this final balance of $325 40, was deposited as early as December 2, 1833, and was on interest from that day to January 5th, 1835!
