Mercury Rising: Featuring Contemporary Poetry from Taiwan

Twice a year, Manoa's editors gather fiction, poetry, esays, and art from America, Asia and the Pacific. Mercury Rising features new poets from Taiwan alongside other outstanding writers of the region. Daring and original, the poetry of Taiwan is culturally distinct, blending indigenous, Taiwanese, immigrant, and classical Chinese writing with influences from postmodern Europe, Japan, and America. Mercury Rising presents nearly to dozen of Taiwan's most innovative poets. The volume also features a remarkable portfolio of photography by Sergio Goes documenting a performance by the Iona Contemporary Dance Theatre of the Mythology of Angels. Plus an interview with Cuban American poet Ricardo Pau-Llosa; new stories from Viet-Nam and the Philippines, a full-length play by New Zealand poet-playwrite Lynda Chanwai-Earle; reviews of current books and much more.
