Intended as a response to criticism of Sons and Lovers, these 2 essays represent the author's counterproposal to Freudian theory. Lawrence articulates his conceptions of education, marriage, and social and political action, along with his insights into the struggle to rationalize and reconcile the polarity that exists between emotional and intellectual identities.
