Synopsis
This book is part of the "Everyman" series which has been re-set with wide margins and easy-to-read type and includes a themed introduction and a chronology of the life and times of the poet. Including his best known poem "Hiawatha", this selection of Longfellow's poems spans the whole of his life. Overcoming his grief at the death of his wife, Longfellow wrote some of his most moving and honest poems, including "Palingenesis" and "The Cross of Snow". His later poems draw on his memories of childhood on the northeast coast and include such poems as "The Tide Rises, the Tide Falls".
