In this, his twelfth collection of poetry, Kenneth Koch gives us two major long poems. One, a richly varied sequence poem on Africa, is a kind of anthology of individual moments recorded during the poet's exploration of that continent. The other, the title poem, is a masterpiece of personal memoirs weaving together details of shared and solitary moments in a marvelous inextricable mix of past and present.
