This poem is exquisite. I love how it flows so smoothly. Great rhymes, and
a great topic to write about, although I have to be honest: I did not know
it was about Abe Lincoln's assassination.

i really love this poem.It has a very strong and deep meaning.Our high
school literature teacher asked us to memorize this poem for our graded
recitation. im not boasting but i got a hundred percent mark. i did it well
that i brought her to tears.

hmmmm in my opinion the ship is represenative of lincoln's life because
whitman says that the ship is safe and sound....almost to go along with
lincoln's strong religious beliefs that his ship is anchored in heaven or
whatever it may be.
