it is a good poem, the second stanza is quite possibly the most intense
imagery in the world

this poem is so emotional, as his brother died in th civil war
i guess his brother is the hero of the poem
the most touching thing is the mother.

I've been studying on Walt Whitman for a While and I think this is one of
the best poems of him about Civil War.

This is good and to the point. Even though it is long, I love it.

Whitman is a very talented writer, and i am very grateful to read his

I was in high school when i read this poem for the first time. i really
like it and i always read it once in a while. It really is very
sentimental, especially for those parents who have lost a child.
