Scott,Thanks for ginettg back to me.In my opinion, the deployment of law
enforcement and associated measures such as detentions (other than what may
have been detailed to M/K) was not in itself unusual. I see you’re
continuing to stick with the “tens of thousands” figure, based
on “eyewitness” accounts and blogs that are biased and agenda
driven. IMHO this is an unreliable means of tabulation. What is striking to
me is the dearth of YouTube videos and photos uploaded, and of the few
available, the numbers are only in the dozens. This low number of available
videos as well as relatively low sized head counts is more significant than
law enforcement’s deployment and associated arrests.I’ve some
advice to offer: don’t get so caught up as a partisan intent on
waging an information struggle that you actually begin to believe what may
in actuality be hype. Dozens of student types yelling into a phone camera
is in no way an effective means of regime change. It may contribute to the
demonization campaign being put forth in the West, but in real, pragmatic
terms, it may only be repelling the mainstream political electorate of Iran
into the arms of the Iranian political right wing, which is very much
counterproductive to the aspiration of your “Green”
comrades. What’s more, it’s becoming clear that NAJA is gaining
experience and effectiveness through these spats of civil unrest. In
effect, these actions are empowering the security apparatus, which is also
counterproductive to your “Green” comrades. The victim in all
this is the political left of the Iranian establishment. So while you may be
promoting hype, realize at what expense you do so.But please, keep me in
mind if you come across future videos of Iran’s law enforcement in
action for 10 Esfand. Unfortunately, so far there is nothing close to
sufficient quantity with which to engage in video/photo interpretation and
analysis.
