Whitman was a big flamin homo and is gay beyond belief, poetry's alright

I first thought that this poem looked rather trite and boring. But the more
I looked at it, the more I liked it and it soon started to look quite
profound. The more I read it the better it gets. I can't explain it.
Brilliant.

I was looking for a poem for an adolescent literature course, and I
stumbled upon this one. I am glad I did though, it is was though provoking.
Although it is short I think people around the world can relate. At first I
thought of a lonely person just wishing that someone would acknowledege
their existance. Then I thought about myself and how many times I have
taken an elevator with people and wanted to say something to them but did
not. Or at the coffee shop when the person in front of you orders the exact
same drink. How I long to say something but often times I just keep my
mouth shut. For me it is about regret, that person you walk past could be
my future husband or a future friend, but I would never know it if I don't
break the silence.

I don't think everyone will agree with me, but I love this one. It's all of
short, simple, and we can all relate to it.

This poem was intersting and thought provoking, however if a student turned
a poem like this in to school, they'd get a failing grade. it's one of
those poems you already have to be famous to write, which is a little
dissapointing because i liked it.
does that make any sense?
sorry if it doesnt

This poem has something to do with my life because I like this guy and he
won't talk to me, but I won't talk to him either!

all i have to say is, "wtf?" i was just wondering, if i saw, let's say, a
bunch of trash cans out ready to be emptied on monday morning and then i
described what i saw as if i actually saw something worth repeating, would
i be as popular as walt whitman? i promise i will sound like i give a @#$%
about those trash cans...
