Walt Whitman - To a Historian.

YOU who celebrate bygones!
Who have explored the outward, the surfaces of the races—the life that has
	exhibited itself;
Who have treated of man as the creature of politics, aggregates, rulers and
	priests;
I, habitan of the Alleghanies, treating of him as he is in himself, in his own
	rights,
Pressing the pulse of the life that has seldom exhibited itself, (the great
	pride of man in himself;)
Chanter of Personality, outlining what is yet to be,
I project the history of the future.

Walt Whitman, Ray Bradbury, Weather Report album cover. Connect being works (poem, short story+ short story collection and album recseptively) called I Sing The Body Electric . The latter two lifted their titles from the Whitman poem.

the poet talks to the historian as if he stands face to face with him by using the pronoun "you".he does not speak to a specific historian, but to all the historians.withman has a philosophical point of view as he begins by saying "you".whitman tells the historian that "you" whose job is to talk about thing that happened in the past.his job is very simple and nonsense as he took the outward that does not need any one to explain.the historian talks about people of politics and rulers and priests.these people have a higher position in the society.whitman does not write his poetry for those people, but write it for the common.the books of the historians are full of the achievements of men of politics and rulers, but the poet is interested in the commnon people.whitman is very proud of him self as a poet and talks about hidden things.the poet clarifies thing to us, but the historian does not clarify it as the poet talks about emotions, feeling, and passions.the poet talks about the past, understands the present, and appreciate the future. so, the poet can tell us about the future through a combination of the past and the present and by helping us to learn lessons from past experience.the historian's job is limited, but the poet job is more comprehensive.the poet can give us a clarify idea about the future by joining the past to the present.
