Living holy doesn't exempt one from sinning. Holiness is an ongoing, daily
process, a fight to hold on and stay on. There are different types of sin,
like the sin of omission. You can live a holy, consecrated lifestyle and
fall into this type of sin--by simply not praying, or praising God (doing
the things that are REQUIRED of Christians.) When people think of sin, the
carnal mind naturally thinks--drinking, drugs and things of that sort but
no, sin is simply NOT doing what God would have us to do. If He called you
to preach and you refuse--that's sin. So 'yes', one can live a Holy
lifestyle and fall into sin. It is an ongoing process, Christians are
working progresses until they are complete (mind, body, and spirit) in Him.
And 'yes' I agree with him, they're those who claim this and that, are one
way in the church and another way outside the church--unfortunately that's
just the way church folk are and WILL BE (for the bible says so.)

When I read this poem it stood out to me because, being a minister, I'm
really big on living a true Holy life. And what it says is so true. So many
people can play and act like they are Holy, but if not I, if not your
friends, some body sees' your true side. You may fool us on earth but you
can't fool God.

Most of Crane's poems might suggest that he was not a believer in God, but
I think he did believe, but often critisized. No person can hide their sin
when the day comes when they are judged.
