I really like the poem, it reminds my of the nights I spents alone with my self with out my wife.

This poem is so true...the deception on how pain is brought into love's "life". The relationship between love & pain is so realistic, with the fact that the companion(heart's pain), of course, is no help.

This poem is saying that to love is not an easy road, because the path is filled with obstacles and pain. I don't think it's even talking about unrequited love, necessarily. It is said that the greatest love will, out of necessity, bring you pain, and that these two intense feelings often go hand in hand. In order to love deeply, you have to be able to deal with the pain that often comes with it.
