the egg and the macnine
When my children and I were little we discussed this poem of Robert Frost
and decided we did not know what the poem was about. But one thing was for
sure, he cursed the car for not being built more acceseble. As any one who
has worked on a car, sometimes, just sometimes we would like to strangle
the guy who put it in those tiny little places!!!

Robert frost believed things should be done the old fashion way. he did not
like modern things. thus this poem is talking about a guy and his car, in
the beginning, and he talks about a train. and how he is vary disturbed by
the train. And then talks about the turtles and how he is going to disturb
its peace if he does not get peace himself. thus you can see the irony in
this poem

I was taught it was the struggle between nature and our advancing
production and dependence on technology.

I liked this poem. I'm not quite sure if my analysis is even close but I
think the main character's car broke down...if this is symbolic, it could
be of the tiresome times of life, when you get angry and want to curse
a/some creator(s).
If just left to the surface, this poem could be about a guy who, after his
car broke down, tries to hitchhike but isn't helped. He then becomes
frustrated and follows turtle prints in the sand. The man then follows the
tracks to a nest of turtle eggs. The main character takes an egg and says
he will throw it at windshield if he does not get a ride.
