I agree paartually to a few of these comments but from my own study of the
poem and other works of Robert Frosts, I have come to think of "The door in
the Dark" as a metaphor. The person in search of the door representing the
reader and essentiallly every human one earth, the room representing the
world and the door representing the truth about life. In my opinion this
poem relates most to teens because this metaphor is about those teen years
where you are still blind folded by innocent(the darkness) and are just
being exposed to the truth bit by bit or more appropriately hit by hit (of
the door) to the darkness and dangers that are in everyday life.

I think that this is a really great poem. I am not sure why Patty got so
upset at you Taylor, I think you will make a great parent, and I think both
of your analasis on the poem is great :)

no way
this poem is about becoming openminded, turning on the lights, and seeing
the true world around you rather than walking around in the dark, blind to
dangers and constantly trying to save face. this is not about protecting
your children taylor, id hate to be your child. I almost saw it as a little
spiteful towards religion....but maybe thats just me. and it is.

This poem makes me think about all the dangers we people have to face in
this world and that we need to protect our children and be more strict with
them.

well .. on a philosophical note .. this poem talks about the fact that at
times in our life somethings have to be brought into our notice the hard
way .... kind of learning byheart the entire text books and someone coming
and telling u there's an easier way to learn it all up
it also speaks about the obstacles in life we tend to overlook before we
meet it face to face.... so friends always keep in mind the things that wud
help u in the journey of life .... open ur eyes ... don't let yourself be
blind.

This is about running into a door in the dark..
the metaphor of life and trying to save face but failing to and thus
feeling socially ostracized is.. well.. probably secondary to a funny story
about a bloke getting smacked in the face because he didn't turn on the
light.
