This poem is all about death. Hemlock trees were poisonous, and while sitting under one, the crow shook dust onto his head.
When Frost mentions the day he "rued", he meant the day he lived. By the end of this poem, the subject was dead. It's a very sad, dark poem, and it's said that this was how Frost thought of his life when it was written.

I think this is about someone very pessimistic but then the snow falls on him and his life gets turned around. a good poem, strange, but good :)
