The Cow at Apple Time

While it may describe a real cow and real apples, I think Mr. Frost phrased
it in a way that it serves as an allegory of that wayward person who, in
his rebellion and pursuit of pleasure, has ceased to fulfill his purpose
and productivity in life (as the cow ceased to give milk). The words
"shrivels" and "dry" in the last line describe the pathetic state of that
person who has gone "out of bounds" to serve Self.
