Analysis and comments on The Happiest Day, The Happiest Hour by Edgar Allan Poe

Comment 2 of 2, added on October 6th, 2008 at 1:58 PM.

Tomorrow is the anniversary of the early death of perhaps the most
influential American writer, and ccertainly my favorite. This poem like
most of his work brings tears to my eyes. Its beauty lies in the simplicity
of its structure which lays bare the underlying emotions- weariness,
bitterness, despair, and relief- without verbosity. He was a master of
saying volumes with very few words. Here's to you Poe. It is a shame that
our brightest lights burn so quickly.
