I was assigned to read this poem today in class. It's all about his wife
and her death. Its so tragic.. she is in the room next to him dying while
he's writing this poem. He had already lost two other family members to
"consumption" which is now called tuberculosis. (sp) He already knew what
was going to come of her sickness. The only reason she lived for five more
years was because she was so young.

This poem spoke to me. I'm only in 7th grade and I like it A LOT. At first
he wanted the raven then he actually thought that it was a demon or devil.
All the bird spoke "Nevermore"

Elaine-that is quite a weird experience you had!
I have no weird experiences to talk about, just the fact that this is my
first time reading "The Raven" as well. There was a commenter a while
back(Yes, I read all of the comments) that told people to use spellcheck if
they were going to post comments. She should think about heeding her own
advice. Just a thought. Anyway, this is a very well-written poem-it's gr8.
By the way, commenter 57 (Kyle from the U.S.)-your message is cute. I
wonder if you're cute in real life. Anyway, as was said before, Poe was a
master at his craft.
