Poe's work is to be enjoyed and loved. He is truly amazing in his works of
art. I truly admire and cherish his work. He truly is an ispiration for
my own segments of turmoil and literary adventures.
I will accept emails from people who only have worth while opinions or
conversations to offer.

People in this forum abuse the word gothic. Gothic is just a
misinterpretation, because gothic refers to a persons style of life or
something to do dark ages in Europe describing the style of building. So
please it pains me to see people using the word gothic to describe such a
beautiful poem. This Raven was written before the use of that word in such
a mannor. So in short utilize better words to describe The Raven or any of
Poe's works.

I can't help but read this poem over and over again. Edgar Allen Poe was
not only a good poet but his poetry really talks to the person. Some people
may not understand it yet because they might be young or they might be
blind to the truth but He is a great poet. Even though he made Dark an
gloomy poems, he was a happy man. So grats to him.

I am not going to comment on what others have written because we all have
different opinions and I can't force mine on others. But here's what I
believe.
This is my favorite poem and you have to read it over many times to fully
comprehend the depth and the meaning behind it. Poe used the Raven to
simbolize his grief over the death of his beloved Lenore (and perhaps guilt
as well?). Then there's the fact that the raven perches on the bust of
Pallas, the Roman goddess of wisdom, and yet the narrator says that the
only thing the raven speaks is its 'only stock and store'. Also, the
narrator knows what the raven will answer but continues to question him,
showing the self-torture he puts himself through.
There is a lot more to be seen in this poem but I really can't think of any
more.

well...when i read this poem, at first i didn't know what is really all
about and it required me to reread the poem. this poem is so nice and it
challenges you. Poe is really an intelligent and artistic poet... he's my
favorite.

The Raven
First of all, why can't people write more meaningful comments than, 'it
rocks, dude'.
The Raven rocks, dude! (sorry, just kidding)
This is a poem to read in dim light when you are in the right mood. Read
it as if you are the person in the poem, going insane. It is downright
scary.
'Nevermore' That one word repeated by the Raven, is all that is left of
Lenore. Nevermore, nevermore. It haunts the man and drives hiim insane.
Nevermore.
