should always check bforee posting correction with the spelling of here
correct I never post this early Maybe I know why!Last “Family”
TripIn April ’78 -A Haiku StoryOff to Florida -I don’t remember it
well,I was only five.My father was cheap. We stayed with some of his
friendsto save on the cost.My mom tells me Ithrew their cat into the pool.I
thought it could swim?We went to Disney-I’m sad to hear they now
closedMr. Toad’s Wild Ride. There’s a souvenirI can’t forget from that
tripwe took that spring break. It came from the beach.M attachment is too
strongto get rid of it.A gift my dad gave, when he took off for four hoursto
some antique store. We were stranded there,as the sun grew much hotter-mom
grew more upset. She covered me upunder blankets and towelsas best as she
could.It didn’t work well.The sun was victorious,flaunting my defeat.My
skin coveredin tons of tiny blistersalmost everywhere. My dad wonders whyI
can be distant with him, since I’m now older. My shoulders, arms, facestill
show the pain of that day, covered in freckles.Memories burnt in –that
darken in taunt everytime the sun comes out.
