THE flower-fed buffaloes of the spring
In the days of long ago,
Ranged where the locomotives sing
And the prarie flowers lie low:
The tossing, blooming, perfumed grass
Is swept away by wheat,
Wheels and wheels and wheels spin by
In the spring that still is sweet.
But the flower-fed buffaloes of the spring
Left us long ago,
They gore no more, they bellow no more
They trundle around the hills no more: —
With the Blackfeet lying low,
With the Pawnee lying low,
Lying low.

the poem brings us to the realisation of how industrialisation has changed the world and in this case-for the worse. This is a good poem which has a theme about nature and concentrates mainly on the Red Indians of the time and the buffaloes themselves. I could easily relate to what was being mensioned in the poem by Lindsay as we ourselves in zimbabwe have animals such as rhinos becoming extinct, if any are around, they do not roam around freely as they are kept in captivity. Thumbs up, Lindsay!
