She lay beside me in the dawn.
The poem is a male suppressing a women “pale leaves” and conquerer.
Alba is the Duke of, title of Fernando Alvarez de Toledo. 1508–82, Spanish general and statesman who suppressed the Protestant revolt in the Netherlands (1567–72) and conquered Portugal (1580)
Alba is a true representation of imagism .
it deals with objects as imagism is the poetry of objects .It also reflects Pound’s influence by the images of nature , namely the Japanese hyko .by the lily , cool , Pound means that nature becomes cool in emotions as the life in the metropolis .
Compare with “The Garret.” I bet he wrote this one later. Both great poems, similar idea; this one pared down even further.
