This is a really neat poem. It definitely states how winners become too
confident with themselves and eventually lose, sometimes every thing they
have. I'm not really big on poetry, but this poem speaks the truth. Emily
Dickinson is a really great poet!

well, this poem is so short, but yet it gets straight to the point. I liked
this poem, this one was yet another one i could read by myself, the only
reason i am on here reading most of her poems is because i have to do a
report on her.

Brittany i agree with you. Its rather sad that its true and will aways be
true. People just never learn sometimes. Have to be "burned" several times
b4 learning anything, and then sometimes they dont learn. Its rather
pathetic.

This poem is so short and so direct to the point. It's brief but it gets
the message across. That's amazing. How someone can reach such a true image
of what life can be like in such a small amount of words.

I find it amazing to create such a short poem yet full of truth itself. It
speaks so much of life.It is inspiring to those hearts that almost lost
hope because of losing, because in losing that is the beginning of one's
victory.
It's wonderful!

I feel the poem is speaking to the reality of winning. Winning is business;
there are no friends in competition. You have to give up or Lose those
bonds. And what of the loser? Chances are he will wonder what he did wrong
and try again

It amuses me that this is still true and will always be.
