This poem really shows how lonely of a life Emily Dickinson lived. The fact that when people left her, it was such a terrible thing that it seemed like night was on her in the middle of daylight. However, when people were there to be with her, it was light a beautiful sunrise, bringing the joy and hope the sun brings with it.
