Some say goodnight -- at night --
I say goodnight by day --
Good-bye -- the Going utter me --
Goodnight, I still reply --

For parting, that is night,
And presence, simply dawn --
Itself, the purple on the height

The fact that when people left her, it was such a terrible thing that it seemed like night was on her in the middle of daylight. However, when people were there to be with her, it was light a beautiful sunrise, bringing the joy and hope the sun brings with it.
