Thomas Johnson is an editor devoted almost entirely to the work of Emily
Dickinson. He has spent much of his adulthood editing her work, and
creating one of the most widely accepted classifications (according to
calculated dates) of Dickinson's work. His classifications are largely
understood among scholars... I trust him.

According to Thomas Johnson, the 1st line reads:
The Thrill came slowly like a Boon for
...The word is BOON, not BOOM... big difference.
