I think she is comparing portraits being better than daily faces like the
sunset being easier to look at than the overly bright sunshine (pedantic),
but the face is natural and real and not strenuous( like posing for a
portrait) like wearing a satin vest. So in reality the everyday natural
face is better to have, in the moment.
