e.e. cummings - it is at moments after I have dreamed

it is at moments after i have dreamed
of the rare entertainment of your eyes,
when(being fool to fancy)i have deemed

with your peculiar mouth my heart made wise;
at moments when the glassy darkness holds

the genuine apparition of your smile
(it was through tears always)and silence moulds
such strangeness as was mine a little while;

moments when my once more illustrious arms
are filled with fascination,when my breast
wears the intolerant brightness of your charms:

one pierced moment whiter than the rest

-turning from the tremendous lie of sleep
i watch the roses of the day grow deep.

Cummings is poet who loved to write romance poems such as, "it is at moments after I have dreamed”. Visual imagery and personification is used throughout, giving the readers better views of what the character in the poem is illustrating. "-turning from the tremendous lie of sleep i watch the roses of the day grow deep.", can be used as an example, this portrays how easily you could lose the person you love, leaving you behind broken. Cummings is a great poet using clear images in his works making them enjoyable to read although he put familiar punctuations and tone aside.

Cummings attended Harvard, where his father taught before becoming a priest, and picked up the techniques expressed in his poems. His style in this poem is nothing, but a simple rhyming scheme. By rhyming the ends of the lines in each stanza together, he portrays a compassionate relationship in this love poem. The color white is used to show a pure and gleeful relationship, and it is also appears that by his, "watching of the days grow deep," something upsetting may also be present.

E.E. Cummings in "it is at moments after i have dreamed" is using his little ad fluttery style of poetry to describe someone in love. This style of three line stanzas and every other rhyme scheme gives this poem a fast paced and light feel. Though the last two lines of this poem give it a darker edge that might give the read some thoughts that maybe there is something else something sinister about this relationship.
