e.e. cummings - i have found what you are like

i have found what you are like
the rain,

      (Who feathers frightened fields
with the superior dust-of-sleep. wields

easily the pale club of the wind
and swirled justly souls of flower strike

the air in utterable coolness

deeds of green thrilling light
                           with thinned

newfragile yellows

                lurch and.press

-in the woods
             which
                   stutter
                         and

                            sing

And the coolness of your smile is
stirringofbirds between my arms;but
i should rather than anything
have(almost when hugeness will shut
quietly)almost,
              your kiss

This poem is about loves strong desire just for a kiss. When Cummings compares his love to the rain he is saying she makes it easy for him to sleep at night, just like the rain falls lightly upon the fields. He goes onto say she is exciting, comparing her to the swirling wind and fragile, like yellow lurches. The whole poem is based off of nature, every word bringing a new element to life, just as the womans love brings a new part of him alive.

george, i kinda agree with what you are saying about us not understanding what ee is trying to exlpain. but your acuzations are not entirely true. when reading this peom, not all girls are crying and eating a tub of ice cream. some are just reading his poems out of bordem. and i know for sure i'm not crying because big girls don't cry. but really you have no right to say to a women to lose 30 pounds and do community service. you should lose 30 pounds. i bet your the one crying and eating a tub of ice crem. but don't assume things when you have NO idea what you're talking about. OHKAYY!!!!!!!
