While this poem does compliment the reader, I can't help but sense an
underlying pride -- not in a negative sense, but nonetheless present. The
first words are "if you like my poems", and then comparing those who like
his poems to "princess[es]" -- meaning that if you have taste enough to
like his poetry, you're high society. The reason for putting the reader
before his poetry is perhaps to show his appeal to people who're above him.

I think this poem is showing that, no matter how beautiful you think
Cummings' poems are, he thinks you are much better, more graceful and
stylish. You=princess, his poems= tall servants.

but that's just what i think.

I feel that the poem is really very meaningful in a way. It is as though,
although this is someone else's poem, he wants you take it and let your
imagination run wild with it, so that one is able to enjoy it even more
than ever.

I though that this peom was interesting. When I read it, I thought of how
his poems can be imaginative and that you can take them any place you want.
Also, that people have different opinions about poems. That's just how it
was to me...

One- why are all of you commenters saying such childish, ignorant things? I
see no humor in them- they're a bit disturbing. Two- This poem *is*
wonderful; because cummings, again, allows interpretation up to you. The
main idea of the poem, that poems themselves can bring joy which can be
seen by others.

So, horny young (not referring to just age, but maturity as well) people,
go back to your homes and please, if you comment again, grow up first.
