e.e. cummings - if there are any heavens my mother will

if there are any heavens my mother will(all by herself)have
one.  It will not be a pansy heaven nor
a fragile heaven of lilies-of-the-valley but
it will be a heaven of blackred roses

my father will be(deep like a rose
tall like a rose)

standing near my

(swaying over her
silent)
with eyes which are really petals and see

nothing with the face of a poet really which
is a flower and not a face with
hands
which whisper
This is my beloved my

			         (suddenly in sunlight

he will bow,

& the whole garden will bow)

Poet: e.e. cummings (e.e. cummings Art) Poem: if there are any heavens my mother will Poem of the Day: Jul 21 2006 Comment 8 of 8, added on February 27th, 2009 at 10:14 AM. this is a very touching poem. i love it!!! i give him props, even though he's dead. it's so sad what happened to his parents. and i would't change it for anything. this by far, is one of his BEST poems. i can't even begin to say how much i like this poem. yes it is about death and sadness, but it is also about his feelings and he does an outstanding job in showing, and not telling.
